ELTON JOHN AT GLASGOW

Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the SECC, Glasgow
I WAS THERE: GLASGOW, SCOTLAND
ELTON AND THE BAND AT THE SECC ARENA, JUNE 10, 2009
"We saw Elton and the Band last night in Glasgow and they continue to
get better and better. It is difficult to believe that I saw Elton for
the first time in 1976 on the 'Louder than Concorde' tour, when in
fact the concert was held at midnight in the Glasgow Apollo, after the
7.30 concert, to accommodate the demand for tickets! All the classics
were there last night and his enthusiasm as ever was there to be seen.
Davey Johnstone's 2000th gig added to the occasion and ensured the
band enjoyed every minute of the night.
"The Rocket tickets were fantastic and allowed us to get our best ever
view of the great man. Our next trip is to the Royal Albert Hall where
the whole occasion will hopefully be magical."
Dave and Faye from Glasgow, Scotland
"I've been to numerous Elton concerts and the man seems to get better
and better. His energy and enthusiasm is better than ever, making for
a very enjoyable show. Elton thanked the Glasgow audience for the
support over the years, believe me, it was our pleasure! Please keep
the shows coming and especially the Glasgow ones!"
Derek from Glasgow, Scotland
"I was there in Glasgow at what a fantastic concert! If he were there
for five nights I would be there. He does work so hard and does bring
on some fab sounds. I did get close to him and said would he do
Holiday Inn and I would have gone on stage and joined him if he would
have let me! What a fab time I had..."
Steve from Glasgow, Scotland
"This was the only concert in Scotland for this summer tour and was
incredible. The concert began with the guest artist Pearl and the
Puppets who were very well and surprised the audience with their
quality! The concert began with Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies
Bleeding and continued with Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting. Set
list was very good, with big issues such as Burn Down The Mission,
Honky Cat- with a magic Davey Johnstone celebrating the 2000th show
with Elton - and the amazing Skyline Pigeon, which was to vibrate the
entire building, very emotional and I hope that it is never removed
from the set list..."
Julio, Jose and Rosa from Spain
"I was there on Wednesday night and thought that was his best concert
I've been to. I first went to see Elton in 1973 in Glasgow and, for
the last few years, my children have been there as well. Perth last
year, Inverness the year before and so on. Please keep coming back to
Scotland and we'll be there! Pass on our congratulations to Elton and
his band - a super performance."
Gerry from Perth, Scotland
ELTON JOHN, SECC, Glasgow
"THIS one's for Pearl & The Puppets and The
Dykeenies," declares Sir Elt before a belting version of Don't Let The
Sun Go Down On Me. "They'll be playing T In The Park . . . and they'll
bring the sunshine!"
It's just one of the reminders in a 25-song,
two-and-a-half hour set that, despite his huge success, he can still
connect with a crowd.
A dazzling display delivers amped-up hits like Saturday
Night's Alright For Fighting and Crocodile Rock, as well as
heart-tugging ballads like Daniel and Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest
Word. And he STILL finds time to sign autographs from the stage. A
treat from beginning to end.

ELTON JOHN & BILLY JOEL
FACE TO FACE 2

Billy Joel and
Elton John
March 19, 2009
Toyota Center
Houston, Texas
Duration: 197:13
Comments:
This wonderful show is recorded entirely with digital audio
equipment and in digital.
Show was incredible! However, the people around me were plain
idiots.
The young beautiful girl that had a big mouth and talked
frequently behind me ended up trashed! (I hope she puked all night
long)
There is one problem with recording. during "Don't let the Sun..."
there is a brief technical problem that will affect the entire
song.
Had to minimize noise there.... Sorry!

ELTON JOHN THE DJ IN WXL0 99X FM
NEW YORK 1975
Lee Douglas with Elton John aka "EJ the DJ" on WXLO 99X New York |
Summer 1975
Duration: 31:06
Imagine your favorite rock star making an appearance as a DJ on your
favorite radio station… and they let HIM do all the announcing just
like your favorite DJs…. not like today where this would be some
sort
of quick 5 minute interview, back in 1975, WXLO 99X brought in Elton
John as a promotion, and he did a couple of hours on air. For the
most
part, he's left to do the announcing, which is good, but beware…
This aircheck takes a bit to get into. While Lee Douglas handles the
first half of this show, EJ shows up about mid way through the
aircheck. But, it's entertaining nonetheless. Definitely worth 3 of
your quarter hours!
This audio file is just with Sir Elton John , enjoy ...

Elton John Live at the Anaheim Convention Center Dec 11, 1970
Duration: 40:42
One of rock's early bootleggers was Rubber Dubber
Records, a label that was active until 1971. When Rubber Dubber folded,
its releases became extremely hard to find -- and by the mid-1970s,
collectors were paying top dollar for Rubber Dubber vinyl. When this
two-LP set (which boasted a deluxe black-and-white foldout cover)
surfaced in 1971, Rubber Dubber had an asking price of six dollars, but
by 1974 and 1975, collectors were willing to pay a lot more for it. The
double-LP documents a December 11, 1970, concert by Elton John and
Leon Russell at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California.
Its first LP is devoted to a 39-year-old John, who is in good to
excellent form during a set that includes "Your Song," "Bad Side of the
Moon," "Can I Put You On," and
the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Woman." While those gems are
succinct, John devotes 19 minutes to an enjoyable, if long-winded,
performance of "Burn Down the Mission." And the second LP is devoted
entirely to
Russell,
whose set includes memorable performances of everything from "Roll Away
the Stone" and "Hummingbird" to
Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls of Fire" and
Merle Haggard's "Okie From Muskogee." The sound quality is OK but
not great -- the bootlegger probably used a home recorder, although a
good one. Regardless of the imperfect sound, this is a bootleg that many
vinyl collectors would love to get their hands on.

Live in Ephesus, Turkey, July 17, 2001
Duration: 122:13
Recorded live at the Great Amphitheatre in Ephesus Turkey in July
2001. This show was originally broadcast over the internet and is
now available on dvd.. one of the best shows ever recorded….
This great concert was filmed on July 17, 2001 and is my favorite of
this set. The outdoor setting is beautiful in the ruins of Ephesus,
Turkey. There is no band here, just the man(Elton) and his piano.
This is Elton John at his best and simplest, he is dressed in black
and during this performance his piano playing and singing are all
that you have to concentrate on. I have seen Elton live on stage
with just his piano, no band, no backup singers and let me tell you
I prefer to see him this way. You get to see how talented this man
really is. This is the best show in the DVD Set.
Of course once again you are treated to twenty-one of his greatest
hits such as Daniel, Mona Lisas and Mad Hatter, Honk_y Cat, Rocket
Man, Sacrifice, Circle of Life (from the Lion King) and he ends the
show with Candle in the Wind. Most of the songs in the first
performance are also included in this great show.
I have said this before, but cannot emphasize enough that this is
Elton John at his best. If you ever have the chance to see him live
with just his piano, get a ticket and go you will be glad you did.
